Data Centre Technician

Full time | Paris

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOBTo build, install, maintain and troubleshoot servers and data network equipment within strict response times working a 27/7 365 shift pattern in a Data Centre environment.

 MAIN CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work both independently with little supervision as well as in a team environment at any time of the day or night .
• Working in an customer focused environment.
• Experience in troubleshooting and installing operating systems, data networking and software.
• Familiarity with SUN, IBM, EMC server and Juniper and Cisco IP network equipment.
• Understanding of Customer systems, processes and response times.
• Ability to adapt and influence in a rapidly changing environment.
• Working in line with ITIL Best Practices.
• Management of effective and timely problem resolution. 
• Experience of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Ability to learn quickly and address issues as they arise during working hours or when on call.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Build, install, troubleshoot and maintain SUN, IBM and EMC servers
• Build, install, troubleshoot and maintain Cisco, Juniper IP networks and Transmission (SDH/DWDM) networks.
• Respond, action and resolve requests / faults within 15 minutes (when on site during business  hours or on call during non-business hours)
• Work closely with 3rd party service providers including Cisco, Juniper, IBM, SUN, EMC, France Telecom, SFR and COLT.
• Active monitoring of all servers  and network equipment when on site 
• Carry out scheduled tape changes
• Escalation of problems and issues to the Customer Operations Team
• Work with Customer Operations/Engineering in configuring End- Customer requirements
• Work with Customer Engineering in testing new Operating Systems and hardware
• General housekeeping to maintain a clean and tidy environment in the Data Centres. 

You may be asked to carry out additional tasks within your capability, in order to meet the needs of the business.

SALARY RANGE

 €25,000 - €35000 per annum depending on experience

OTHER

• Candidates will be expected to shift work and be on call at weekends.
• Candidates must speak French and English fluently. 
• This is a full time position.
• The main data center location is in St. Denis but candidates will be expected to work in other Data Centres such as Telehouse Paris and Global Switch Clichy.
